Dr. Peggy Bertrand. Dr. Bertrand was born and raised in
Louisiana
,
and received her BS degree in Chemistry from Southeastern Louisiana Universtity in 1976 and her PhD in Physical Chemistry from Florida State University in 1982. She had careers as a research chemist and a software entrepreneur prior to becoming certified to teach secondary physics by the University of Tennessee. She has been teaching AP Physics at Oak Ridge High School since 1998, has served as an AP Physics Exam Reader and Table Leader, and is an endorsed College Board Physics consultant. She received the Siemens Award for Advanced Placement teaching in 2008. Dr. Bertrand is a member of AAPT and was named Outstanding Physics Teacher of 2009 by the AAPT, Tennessee Section. She became a USAYPT Board Member in 2009, and was elected Vice President in May 2009.
