Mr. Greg Jacobs. Mr. Greg Jacobs was born in Ohio
and raised in the Cincinnati
area. He received his BS (1995) in
Physics from Haverford College
and his MS (1996) in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern
University. Since 1996, he has taught in independent
schools; he arrived at Woodberry Forest
School, a boys' boarding school in
central Virginia
, in 2000. Mr. Jacobs was appointed to the Board of
Directors of the USAYPT in 2005 and has been a juror at the last two USAYPT
International Team Selection Tournaments. In 2007 he was appointed as the USAYPT Tournament Director. In February 2007 he supervised both the International Team Selection Tournament and the National Young Physicists Tournament.
He has authored two books: 5 Steps
to a 5: AP Physics and The Everything
Kids Baseball Book. At Woodberry, Mr. Jacobs is the quarterbacks coach for
the varsity football team, and the voice of
Woodberry
Forest baseball over the
Internet. He writes the weekly
"Nachoman's Baseball" column during the major league season.
In May 2008 Greg was elected as the Vice-President of the USAYPT in addition to his duties at Tournament Director. In May 2009, Greg was elected as the President of the USAYPT, passing his duties as Tournament Director on to Tengiz.
Mr. Jacobs is an AP Reader in Physics and a consultant for
the College Board, leading several Advanced Placement Summer Institutes each
year.
