OPENING &
CHALLENGE

After the applause dies down at the end of "The Discussion", the Head Juror will direct both the REPORTER and the OPPONENT to stay standing, and then ask the jury members for questions.

The focus of the jury is not only to get ready to fill out the juror grading rubrics, but to use their questions to again identify inaccuracies and incompletenesses in the Report or the Opponent's critique of the Report.

Often, jury members pose questions that physicists refer to as "fundamental", such as "When is angular momentum conserved?" or "How can you justify 1% error when the charge was measured to 25%?".

The jury's focus is on good physics.

This lasts for up to 8 minutes or about 1 question per juror.

The teams leave the Fight Room and the Jury begins its deliberations and writing up the grading rubrics. Follow this link to see the Juror Grading Rubrics.

When all rubrics are completed the Head Juror releases the Jury and turns the graded rubrics into the Tournament Director. The Fight is over!
